QEMM Advanced Troubleshooting
This QEMM 7 technote is an abridged version of a technical
bulletin that is available through our standard support channels.
The information contained in this version pertains ONLY to QEMM
version 7.0. If you need information relating to earlier versions
of QEMM or if you are interested in a lengthier discussion of this
subject, you can obtain the unabridged version from the following

Subject: A step-by-step, flowchart-like procedure for solving
problems with QEMM that are not addressed by more specific,
product-oriented technical notes.
You are experiencing a problem with your hardware or software.
Since QEMM is your memory manager and is the control program for
everything loaded after QEMM, you may feel that QEMM is causing
the problem. However, most problems result from the complex
combination of multiple TSRs, device drivers and program(s)
loaded in memory and trying to run in harmony with your expanded
memory manager and your various hardware devices. We want to
determine whether QEMM is involved with the problem you are
experiencing. If it turns out that QEMM is involved, we will
follow a series of steps to resolve it.
Before you begin troubleshooting, you should read through our
technical bulletin PRODUCTS.TEC which can be found in your
QEMM\TECHNOTE directory. This file contains product compatibility
information and may provide the solution to your problem.
You should also refer to TROUBLE.TEC which is also located in
your QEMM\TECHNOTE directory. TROUBLE.TEC is a general
troubleshooting and reference guide. It may refer you to a
technical bulletin that deals specifically with your problem.
Some of the technotes mentioned in TROUBLE.TEC can be found in
your QEMM\TECHNOTE directory. Others can be obtained through our
standard support channels. See CONTACT.TEC (located in
QEMM\TECHNOTE) for information on obtaining technical bulletins.
This technote was written to help you troubleshoot problems
involving QEMM. The troubleshooting procedure involves several
steps. Many of these steps are the same ones outlined in
EX13FLOW.TEC (our technote dealing with Exception #13 errors.)
We have included EX13FLOW.TEC in your QEMM\TECHNOTE directory.
In the interest of saving hard drive space, we will refer you to
that technical bulletin. Follow each of the steps in
EX13FLOW.TEC except for STEPS # 5 and 6. These two steps are
only necessary if you are experiencing a problem with Exception
#13 errors.
